Epic vibe coded its new launcher to beat Steam

Epic just put out a preview of a new Epic Games Launcher, and their announcement says: "Programming is hard. So, instead of doing that, we vibe coded a new Epic Games Launcher." Vibe coded meaning built with AI, and their tweet says they did it "to be faster than the other guy." Epic's numbers: a 5.47 second cold boot, which they say is 46% faster than Steam, and a library that loads 30 times faster than the old launcher. It's on Windows, Mac and, for the first time, Linux, and Epic says Fortnite is coming to Linux later. It's a preview, so Epic says it'll have bugs and some social features aren't in yet. The old launcher is still available. #epicgames #epicgamesstore #steam #fortnite #pcgaming #gamingnews #shorts
