PS5 sales in the US are the lowest since 2013

US hardware data for 2026 through August: PlayStation console unit sales are down 25% on last year, the lowest point since 2013, and Xbox is down 33%, an all-time low. The average price paid for a PS5 this year is $597, 20% higher than last year (the PS5 Pro pulls that average up). At the same stage of the PS4 generation you could get a PS4 with Marvel's Spider-Man for around $200. GTA 6 could help a little next month, depending on price and on how many consoles are available.
